Lunatic

"You may be right, I may be crazy. But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for." Why do the words of this song keep replaying over and over in my head? Is it because:

A. a hundred and fifty people are coming over to our garage for pancakes and sausage in 18 short days? (Fash's graduation breakfast open house)

B. we can't even fit our cars in our garage (what on earth were we thinking)!?!

C. I.T. has spent the past week living in our 30 something cement pond trying to renovate it in time for the par-tay? (pool paint arrived via UPS today)

D. noone will even be swimming on pancake day anyway?

E. suddenly every time I stand in our front entryway I say out loud, "have we really been living with this color for thirteen years????" (purchased paint yesterday)

F. only Sunday did we come up with an alternative window covering for our bathroom besides the Christmas tablecloth that Mrs. Tidsay gave us for a wedding gift, folded in eighths, held in place by mooshing the top edge down in between the window part and the screen part. (what is wrong with this family)

G. if I don't get going, I'll be late for work- again.

H. someone is ringing our doorbell at 1 a.m. on Saturdays, then running off while we fire up the search lights and shake in our slippers.

Or is it simply because I spoke those very same words to I.T. years ago, under the light of the silvery moooooon. Hey! Did you know that lunatic actually means something about walking under the moon- in Russian? Uh huh. And walking under the moon is not necessarily crazy. In fact, taking a long walk under the moon to the end of the earth is sounding pretty good right about now.

This is all going to be fine. All going to work out just grand. Pancakes, sausage, monkey bread, fruit, coffee, juice.....we can do this. We'll do it for Fash. Because we love her and adore her. We can have a pretty party in our garage. Yes. Yes we can. And the pool will be looking sa-weet, if anyone cares to peek out back at that. Maybe.

Hope everyone is well in blogland! And if you are in the Michigan area June 5th- pancakes at our place.

See you soon!

Heidi

The 150 people in my garage for pancakes would be enough to push me over the edge.

There is nothing like an open house to get a lot of work done in the house and garage! We did that twice. For the third time, we rented town hall!
You'll be fine - and everything will look so good!

nothing like a graduation open house to put you over the edge! on the plus side, it's a great way to get your garage clean. (although to look at ours now, you wouldn't know it was a party place just 51 short weeks ago.)

i didn't make it to either of your boys' open houses (or did i make it to pilgrim's? i don't remember), but i should be there for fash's. i'm sure i'll have some family members with me-- they love pancakes. because, you know, it's all about the food. oh, and sitting with friends. not to mention the graduate, of course. ;-)

happy stressing! i'm stressing over getting ready for vacation at the moment.

WOW You really do have a lot going on this week before the big party on Saturday. If I did live by you, you would have some extra help to make it memorable and I can even paint if you needed help there too!

Well, with 150 people coming only the first few see the actual garage...everyone else just sees the people which is really why they come. Oh, and for the pancakes too. That is a lot of pancakes!

I'm sure it will be wonderful and a happy day. I simultaneously grinned til my cheeks hurt and cried tears of happiness/relief/disbelief a couple of weeks ago. Be forewarned...at least for me the second the band begins playing Pomp and Circumstance the waterworks begin. Hope you have great weather...ours was lovely and all the sunshine also made me want to cry. Essentially I was just a big ball of emotion but it was a fabulous day. I'm sure yours will be special...congrats to your daughter!

Sorry, but had to LOL at this post :-)

Brought to mind the last couple months before I threw my son a surprise birthday party when he turned 17. I had to clean/excavate the basement AND paint it since that's where we had the party (but of course the upstairs had to be cleaned too). I don't think I've ever worked so hard in my life.

Maybe that's why I chose the easy way out when our youngest finished high school and coordinated with another homeschool friend to do a joint graduation at church and open house at their place. Still a lot of work, but nothing like it would have been had we done it at the parsonage.

You WILL have a wonderful party, serve lots of delicious food, everyone will admire the pool, and Fash will have a day for her "memory bank" that she'll never forget.

Heidi,

Please help me spread the word of a sister in Christ who so desperately needs help with a limited amount of time left.

Hope all went well ... I'm SURE it did and that Fash was thrilled and everyone had a GRAND time and loved the pancakes and sausage and the house and pool and windows were PERFECT!
You sound like me... I get myself into these situations everytime I decide to "do" something... one thing leads to another. It can't just be pancakes and sausage - the whole neighborhood needs to be spruced up to accommodate my plans.. LOL
Blessings on you and your family and I hope you have a wonderful summer - more relaxing!

hey! How was the party? I'm a bit concerned that maybe there were no survivors. Or, maybe, you are off walking on the moon.
