Still spending an abundance of time sifting through the contents of recently emptied closets, but I am happy to report, the bathroom is now primed. Primed around hundred year old (well, might as well be) carpeting, olive green sinks, toilet and tub from the 1970's and a row of big, round light bulbs across the entire top of the mirror- BUT primed, just the same. And ready for paint. Now for the color choice.....Hmm. I wonder who gets to sit around all day and come up with those names for paint colors. That could be an interesting job. I read about 137 really good ones last night before bed. Kind of like a rainbow of flashcards. I think I could match the correct name to its color on a pop quiz. But can I pick the perfect color for the bathroom??
Who knows how long it will take me to figure out the paint color, but somehow I am reminded of a quote from Shane Claiborne, whom I heard speak in person just a few hours ago. He said,
"I'm looking forward to eternity, where I'll party like there's no tomorrow- and there won't be."

I think my aunt had that job making up names of paint colors because she seems to know the name of every shade of every color God ever created.
God knows the exact color you need. You should ask Him. Seriously I did when I painted the outside of my house. I wrote about it here.

Have fun! Love ya!
Glad you have gotten this far! I see the end in sight!
I love the quote you ended with.
Oh redecorating can be fun and torturous at the same time!! But the end result is always worth the long hours!! I'd think with olive green you might want to choose the Tortoise Eggshell Delight in the Morning color swatch, don't you? [kidding!]
I am so lousy at choosing paint colors that I will give no input here. I don't envy your job!
Regarding the naming of paint colors? I have always thought those who chose the names must have been hungry. There seem to be lots of food names...Anyway, I hope you find the right color soon. And remember, you can always paint over it. *grin*
Thanks for the wish of Congratulations for winning Edie's blog makeover. I have had the same "look" for nearly two years now. Yes. It's time for change!
But now I have so much to think about...*sigh*
Have a great Monday.

This brought a very well needed smile to my face.....
thank you!
I know the turmoil of trying to pick colors...
I picked a beautiful border of tulips one time and decided to paint the bathroom the bright RED of the tulips... It was a disaster! I had to peel off the border and repaint... fortunately it was not an eternal mistake and was easily fixed with a different paint... but... it was frustrating because I don't like to make mistakes (called "pride")
love your humor!
I am right there with you, looking forward to eternity....dancing with My LORD!

Love the quote. I finished the living room - it only took me 2 years to chose colors. :D
As to naming colors...it is the same in curtains, the names the come up with for the colors, my favorite is fog...I thought it would be gray or maybe pale blue - but no, it is squares of blue, taupe, green and cream. :D Go figure!
Hmmmm, not sure if a light taupe or a gray would be better :-) Like I know what I'm talking about. hahaha
But if you go with a rather neutral wall color, you can mix it up with the towels and "pops" of color. I personally like the layered look with towels; maybe brown bath towel with an olive green hand towel hanging over it and topped it off a brown washcloth. (Brown in any shade would work, I'd think.) Or just go with a striped set that has some olive in it.
[See how I totally got off the subject of wall color and onto towels? I am OBSESSED with towels! I bought like forty-eleven before we moved to Argentina. Guess I was afraid I'd run out. hahaha]
I guess it really depends on the look you want. Subdued elegance, funky retro, modern sleek...
Try to have fun and not stress too much. Paint IS the easiest thing to change after all.
Except for towels :-)
I love that quote. You could also sing; Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya.....wait there is not tomorrow, this is eternity.
Heidi,
At least the hard part is over with, and the end is in sight.

I have wondered the same things about the paint names before. I'll be back to see the results. Right?
I'm partial to Carolina blue. Scarlet and Diamond Ice Metal Flake. But I can't picture that in a bathroom with olive green.
i adore this quote. : )

S and I heard Shane tonight...great stuff.
I thought you had lived on 18th St long enough to know that Barbie is in charge of all paint color selections. Seriously, call her...

I do not enjoy picking paint colors. That's why all of our walls are painted off-white!
