1. It's early morning, about 2:00AM, and you're driving home. You come to a red light and sit there. There is no one in sight for miles around. Do you wait it out or run the light?I'm a first born, rule follower- I'd wait.
2. If you had the chance to re-do the last 24 hours, would you change anything?
I'd contact my fairy god-mother and have her bippity boppity boo on over here to poof this house in order. Outside the Box moved to his new place two days ago, but only after turning our house upside down and shaking it. The remaining treasures he didn't take with him are still scattered around the whole house.! Clean up in aisle one, two, three, four, five, six, seven....
3. When you reply to someones comment on your blog, do you reply in your comments or go to her blog and comment? (Or email her)
I've wondered about the best way to reply to someone's comment. I usually go to his/her blog and comment there. I figure people mostly do not return to see if I replied to their comment in my comments. Do people return? Mostly.
4. Your favorite Disney movie is: Old Yeller
5. Do you recycle? Yep. I.T. takes the recycling to work and separates it out there. Free.
6. Games of strategy or games of chance? Strategy is way more fun. And gratifying if I win. I love to win and hate to lose. Especially to I.T.
7. Do you have any recurring dreams? I used to. I haven't had that dream in quite a while, but now that you asked and I might be thinking of it, I will probably dream it. Nuts! I don't like that dream. I will have to do extra yoga tonight.
8. What did you learn from your first real job? How to count back change. Have you noticed that kids working in stores these days don't really know how to do that? Mostly.
9. Do you buy or borrow most books? I have the best deal on this one. I work in a Christian bookstore. We can take books home on consignment (free), read them and return them to the sales shelf. Unlimited! We do have to be extra careful with them. This way we get to know our product, can recommend books to customers better etc. It is a win/win if ever there was a win/win. Am reading The Silent Gift by Michael Landon Jr. right now. The store has really good deals on books quite often, too- then I buy one.
10. What fashion trend of the past did you say you'd never wear again but did? Cat-eye glasses.
11. When do you start Christmas shopping? Oh, about two hours before I need to give someone a gift or, if it's for the family, on Christmas eve, about 9:48 p.m.- at Walgreens, the only store open then. I give a lot of miniature crock pots. You know, those little potpourri burners and curling irons.
12. Have you ever been so happy that you literally jumped up and down for a few seconds? If so, what was the occasion?
I do this all the time. Last Thursday night at work, I thought I'd given a discount when I shouldn't have, but we looked into it and I actually gave the correct discount! I did it right! Yes! I jumped up and down with glee. The customer I was waiting on at the time (not the one getting a discount, she was long gone) started looking around to see what he was missing. It really is the little things. If you read my cousin, K.D.'s answer to #12, you might see that this quite possibly is a genetic thing for me.
Thanks for coming by. I've thought of the blogs every day, but too much life is happening here. I haven't been able to justify time in front of my computer. My son moved out, my parents' furniture moved in, I actually made it to my dentist appointment this time, we're off to Ohio to tour another college with Fash, my yard was full of leaves....you get the picture.

I need that fairy god mother too!!!
so you never said what your recurring dream is....you can tell us tomorrow!! :)
Your yard looks like mine. I'm not a happy jumper type, more like a little screamer!
Thanks so much, Heidi, for your comment on my blog! I'm always excited to help somebody find new music, etc. and to meet a new friend! Oh, to work in a Christian bookstore... :) What a dream job!
Hi. I haven't even read this yet, but i did go back and read the Gift of Song that you posted for me.
It was really close. you see, i pride myself on not having any tears ducts....i must have something in my eyes, or perhaps it was the pollun. I don't know, but that song was beautiful and it really hit home.
"We are all more powerful than we think"
" When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better."
"We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope."
i could copy almost everyone of those quotes.
Thank you....
We are so similar--except for the jumping up and down. However, Lion King rules!!
Your leaves!! Goodness. Tell Fash to take a jump in them for me! My good news of the day is that when I walked up our hill from school--all the leaves were gone! The city actually made it up my hill and took them. I'm grateful, but I may have to rake a few more to burn. I love that smell!
Fun answers.... I also learned to count back change at my first job... I still do it that way to myself.
I knew I liked you. I am a rule follower too. To the letter!!!
I love the fall layout over here. It's awesome!
I said Old Yeller, but I'm not sure I really meant that. I cried a lot during that flick and it wasn't fun and I don't even know if it was a Disney. I just couldn't think of anything Disney. Was 101 Dalmations Disney? With Glenn Close- I loved Glenn Close in that one. I'll pick that instead.
old yeller.... I cried like a baby in that movie (and book).
Totally jealous about the perks of your job! How cool is that.
Great Random Dozen.
Have a great rest of the week!
Robin
Two of them out the door...who would have believed this could happen to us? Guess Fash will have to stay in-state. Hope that your visit goes well.
I know what you mean about life happening. I'm in the same boat. My blogging time is down quite a bit. I may post but I'm not having the time to visit as much as I would like.
I think I would very much love working in a Christian book store.
I hope for your sake that isn't a picture of YOUR yard! If it is I feel for ya!
I'm a rule follower too and I love strategy way more than chance. So we could play a good game and know that neither of us would cheat.
#3. I go to their blog too.
#8. No kidding huh?
#9. Do you have to write a review on the books you borrow? ;) I'm not any closer than I was before.
#11. Don't forget those fleece blankets. Those are good too!
Thanks for visiting my blog! Thought I'd come check out your answers and you're way funnier than me, so I'll be checkin' up on you too! :)
That's a lot of leaves! Wow! It makes me just want to take a running dive right into them, but you know, that would put me in the hospital probably. We just don't bounce back like we used to.
Old Yeller? So sad! Loved the book, movie too real/sad. See, you could have said Mary Poppins and "cleaned" up your aisle mess with just a spoonful of sugar!
Thanks again for visiting!
You can come rake my yard if you like. This was a great list.
Heidi,
Too funny. I'm in college.. not 30. Wondering how you got that.. maybe because I said I have seen 3 decades? Well, in my defense, I'm counting 88 and 89 as a decade! HA. :]
Sounds like a wonderful job.. I would love to work at our local Tree of Life (Christian book store / music store / café). I usually wait for good sales and buy more than 1 at a time.
Also, Christmas shopping.. you are funny!! If I'm late shopping it's because my sister (or whomever) won't give me a good list or I haven't any good ideas. What's your excuse? ;)
and thanks for following!
Lady,
You crack me up. I laugh till my jaw aches.
What a fun collection of insights!
When I was young, the movie "The Yearling" was my fav (I bawled every time I saw it). As an adult, it's a tougher choice. But I must say I enjoyed "Out of Africa" and "The Rabbit Proof Fence".
Blessings,
Kathleen
It is so fun to read your replies to the random questions! Good luck on the college visit!
Finally the computer all to myself :-) Now I can catch up on reading blogs.
My fairy godmother would also need to cook and do paperwork.
I am confused about proper blog etiquette when it comes to #3. I rarely go back to see if someone replied to a comment. Shoot, I have trouble (especially now down to one computer) just getting to a blog post once.
I want your job! lol Seriously, I know I could never work in a bookstore. It would kill me to be around all those books and be too busy to read them. The boss would constantly be finding me hiding under the counter reading so I wouldn't last very long. It would be fun to have access to all the free reading though!
I agree on the number 8 and I could never read a book and bring it back. I always tend to dogear and generally the book is well used when I'm done with it! Great List! Stopped in at the store last week and you weren't there.
Hey my friend! I know you're REALLY BUSY raking up leaves but I wanted to let you know there's a give-away going on over at my graphics blog. http://richgift.blogspot.com/
Missing you!
Popping in late here.....maybe you are still buried under those leaves......
Can I tell you that I laughed out loud more than once? Especially at #11.....just struck me so funny this morning.
I think I want to jump on this random dozen thang....well, because, I am totally random.
