Ruby Tuesday

Jientje (say Gene-chu) from my favorite photography blog, Heaven Is In Belgium, posts a picture with something red in it on Tuesdays.

Back in June, when we took Fash to register for classes at the college where she'll soon be a resident freshman, I took this picture, because it reminded me of Jientje's Ruby Tuesday meme.

If Fash's dorm catches on fire, only about four feet away is this little guy- to the rescue! Whew. One less worry for mom.

Been trying to think positive and enjoy each day. Been failing miserably at both. Been trying not to count down the days to Fash's departure to the four hours away college place where she is going. But right in front of my eyes is a little calendar opened to JULY with a big X across every day gone by. Been trying to believe that I.T. is going to be my new best talkie friend-to replace Fash. Still practicing "okay now honey, I share my thoughts, then you give me your thoughts in a reply using more than two words..." Very difficult exercise-for both of us. Poor guy.

But...life is going on....

We did just travel to Pennsylvania for our annual Riff Raff (Ride In Fun For Relatives and Family Friends) family reunion type gathering with 70+ of my relatives and a few of our longtime friends. Here, I.T. unloads Fash's new roadside find- a 1970's classic Huffy-in orange, of course.

My niece, my sister with her granny basket, our friend from Miami, my cousin's wife- all wheelin' in to the lunch stop.

My Californian cousin's daughter and my brother hit the halfway mark- the lunch stop. A close-up of the back of this year's t-shirt. It was 100 degrees in PA. To insure the utmost of coolness, I modified the t-shirt. In this picture, I notice my knees are aging faster than some other of my parts. How odd.

The senior member (age 82) of this year's event, my mother's sister, and her eldest son from Georgia.

We stayed at a campground that was hosting a Christmas in July weekend. So we rolled with it. Here comes Santa Claus, to the pavilion where we'd just decorated homemade Christmas tree sugar cookies. Most of the campers this weekend were my relatives. All the people in the pic are related to me (except Mr. Claus, of course).I also just finished reading Evolving In Monkey Town by Rachel Held Evans. She basically began a blog, then wrote a book from her thoughts posted there. You can read her blog and reviews of her book here: http://rachelheldevans.com/blog It was a tumultuous read for me. I'm still mulling it all over.

I was going to point you in Skoots direction as she is going through the very same thing but I see she has already made a visit herself.

I may pop over to that blog you were talking about. I think there is a very fine line between tolerance and all the other 'New Age" stuff floating around these days.

I think you hit the nail on the head about placing our trust in God, we can never go wrong when we do that!

JN 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Can you believe I almost missed this post? I love the pictures from the family gathering. I still remember last year's reunion, can't believe a year has gone by already! I can imagine you're going to miss your daughter. Four hours is a long distance!
