In Sunday School, when I was little, we sang this song:
"I'm in right out right up right down, I'm happy all the time.
I'm in right out right up right down, I'm happy all the time.
Since Jesus Christ came in and cleansed my heart from sinnnnn..
I'm in right out right up right down right happy all the time!"
When we said "in" we pointed to ourselves, when we said "out" we pointed straight ahead, when we said "up" we went up on our toes, when we said "down" we squatted to the ground and when we said "happy all the time" we stood and clapped.
Does anyone else remember that Sunday School song with those motions?
Well today I was thinking about that song, but I decided that what it's really like to love and follow Jesus is sort of like this:
"I'm inside out, I'm upside down, I'm re-grouping all the time. I'm inside out, I'm upside down, I'm re-grouping all the time. As Jesus reveals himself to me, and causes my blind eyes to seeeeee....I'm inside out, I'm upside down, I'm re-grouping all the time."
I'm still working on the new motions. Maybe a backbend with an ankle grab on the "inside out" and a headstand on the "upside down" then an upright yoga pose on the "re-grouping"...
The point is: I consistently find myself in situations where I am challenged to think about what it is I believe and what the Bible really says, who God really is and what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
Lately I'm discovering how egocentric I can be- focused on myself and what I want and how much more freeing and loving it is to be Christcentric- focusing on Jesus and thinking in terms of how a thought or action or word effects the cause of Christ instead of how each thought or action or word effects ME.
Additionally, I met my two beautiful sisters at a park for a picnic today and we ate some sandwiches, talked non-stop and walked among the trees marveling at the colorful leaves. We prayed together for each other and for our families and then went our three separate ways back to our own homes. I love my sisters. We don't get together often enough, but when we do it is very special.

The fact you question means you care. It's good to think things through and not just follow. Your heart never lies.
It sounds like you had a nice outing with your sisters. That is so nice to hear :0)
I remember that song. Your version is quite true for me too.
Glad you had time with your sisters. Sister time is special!
It sounds like you have a good relationship with your sisters despite the time you do not spend together. Cherish that. :) I'm moving to Cambodia sometime in the next summer or fall and baby I'm gonna miss my sisters!
Thanks for the encouragement. I love your song!
Good thoughts; good reminders!
Christianity is counter-intuitive on every level. We're weak, but strong. We're dead, but alive. We're low, but high. We serve, but we are served. When cursed, we bless.
I love the way in which God challenges us; and I love the way in which God's people take the challenge.
Blessings,
Kathleen
Heidi,
I think we all have seasons in our life when we see things the way you have described in our life. I for one am hoping for a spiritual revival in my own heart after a season of summer and dryness.

I remember the song. I am also living the song-your version : )
I recently joined a Women's Bible study at a church we've been visiting. It's Beth Moore's Breaking Free which she has updated. I have to tell you this study is speaking to me at this stage of the game like nothing I've done before. And I'm surprised by that...I thought this would be one I'd 'coast' thru. God still amazes : )
Your picnic sounds lovely...have a nice day!
I remember that song, too! And now you've got me humming it! Such happy memories! So glad you had time for a picnic in the fall!
I HAVE AN AWARD FOR YOU LATER TODAY.
Just thinking about those poses makes my body hurt :)
Enjoyed this post... you have a way of saying what I'm thinking/feeling but SO MUCH BETTER than I could!
