While I was on vacation I tried not to think of blogging, because I didn't have internet anyway and there was so much natural beauty all around me every minute of each day, it would have been ridiculous to sit in front of my computer for even a minute. But one day Fashionista and I felt the urge, she to connect with her peeps via facebook and me to peek into blogland. Sooo, while I.T. napped we snuck into the truck, put pedal to the metal and high tailed it over to the local public library in the village near the cottage. Fash slipped into a comfy coffee shop across from the library to hook into their free WiFi and I got in line to use a computer at the library. There's a 30 minute limit on computer time and you have to sign in so the librarian knows exactly how long you've been waiting and how long you've been online.
I didn't have to wait too long, but the computers were all in use and right after I got on a couple guys came in the door and signed the registry, so I truly only had 30 minutes to surf.
I began my blog reading with Easy Street, Mrs. E. , so right off the bat I saw that she had been given a beautiful award. She was to pass it on to some other blogs of her choosing. And she chose me! I was giddy. My first award! All I had to do was accept it and pass it on to others of my choosing. What a delight!
It takes me a long time to figure out how to do these types of cut and paste activities, so my 30 minutes, which was almost up already because I kept re-reading Mrs. E's post where she mentioned giving me the award, was not going to be enough time to accept and choose and cut and paste and link. But tonight I will sacrifice a bit of sleep to share the award with 14 blogs that I have found uplifting. (Mrs. E.'s is one of them that tops my list, but I don't think I am supposed to pass the award back to her- again) I list them in no specific order, I love them all.
#1. Life at the W.A.C.K.O.S.- 40winkzzz is my real time friend who tried forever to get me to blog and I said it was dumb, who would read what I wrote and why would I want them to, I said. But then I read hers. It was funny. I was hooked. She came over and helped me get mine set up.
#2. 2nd Cup of Coffee- yes I know everyone knows Lid, she's a famous blogger, BUT she was my very first follower (after 40winkzzz) and that encouraged me to no end. Her blog is hysterical and she posts at midnight just about every single night of her life, so far as I can tell. So, I get my morning coffee and click over for a read that I know will be there. Her flowing java is alluring.
#3. Best Bets- my real time neighbor is diligent about finding deals. She shares them and I have saved $$ , following her leads. I got a $1 sandwich at Jimmy John's because of her blog. If you need a coupon, go visit her.
#4. Greg's General Store- the award is very pink and flowery and not very guy like, but I just have to give an award to Greg. He shares my love of farmer's markets and fishing and is a wonderful story teller. I giggle at all of his posts.
#5. Heaven is in Belgium- Jientje (Gene-chu) is a fabulous photographer. Her pictures are calming, clear and detailed. She is so sweet and she'll answer back to your comment on her post with a comment on her post, so always check back if you ask her a question, because she will answer you there.
#6. Merrie Days- a doting grandmother with lots of pictures of grand babies and interesting stories about them. So adorable.
#7. Monkeys Are Funny- MyADHDMe is a nut from the tree I grew on, I think. She reminds me of myself x 7 and she absolutely cracks me up. I admire her- she is a firefighter! Someone once posted a comment to her that they'd want to fight a fire with her if they ever had to fight one. I agree- she could get you through it.
#8. My Hands...His Glory- skoots1mom is a faithful reader of many blogs. You see her everywhere encouraging others. She has pretty photos accompanying her posts. Her blog is a constant reminder of our savior, Jesus.
#9. Rich Gifts Graphics and Blog Design- Edie loves the Lord and creating beautiful blogs for others who love Him, too. She was the first to get me to write a poem on my blog- that was fun!
#10. Pachyderms and Wizard Wyrms- my real time cousin K.D. in Ohio. When I read her posts I can just hear her telling it and see her telling it. She has collected elephants as long as I can remember and I like how she worked them into her blog title. The explanation of the title can be found on her blog- go see!
#11. Scattered Stones- I found her blog when I was studying Ecclesiastes with my daughter. She has Ecclesiastes 3:5 on her header and her blog is orange! So cool.
#12. Be Still and Know- Robin has taught me a thing or two about blogging and about trusting the Lord for all things and about patience. Her blog is peaceful to me.
#13. This Ain't New York- a very new blog to me, I recently found it. Her profile says she enjoys learning every day about God- I like to hang around with that.
#14. ...make music from your heart to the Lord, Eph. 5:19...- Sara's blog is also brand new to me. It is inspiring right off the bat and intrigued me with a puzzler the first post I read, actually. She hosts the 365 project that many participate in and I look forward to joining in soon!
The best part about all the blogs I've found- each is written by another who is seeking to walk in the way of the Lord, Jesus Christ and therefore there is always something of great value to me to be found within the posts and profiles. I really enjoy that and am encouraged by it.
Thank you, Mrs. E. for passing this award on to me. I hope all of you will enjoy passing it on to others! You're supposed to copy and paste the award (save it like a picture- maybe not the official way, but Mrs. E. and I couldn't find any HTML code to grab) and link it back to me. Get your scissors and Elmer's ready, it's a lot of cutting and pasting!

Can't wait to check out the blogs you mention. This is a great way to find new inspiration! I know a couple of yours, but not many.
Have you recovered from vacation? All the laundry done?? (My least favorite part of the return home!)
Awwwww. Thanks, I am comfy enough with myself that I can handle pink. Don't tell anyone but it actually looks good on me or so I have been told. I have trouble putting those things on my blog too so it may take a few days. Thanks for thinking of me and for what you said.
oh, heidi, thanks!... but i have always been horrid about following up on blog awards. even in my blogging heyday, i never seemed to get around to writing up that post in which i pass on the awards. in fact, if you look on my sidebar, you'll see the following note: "this is where i would put all my blog awards. however, since i never seem to get around to passing along the awards as is generally expected, it would be beaking the rules for me to post them here..."
so, we will see... anyway, thanks! i am always always happy & honored to get awards, even if i am not so great at passing them on.
(and you still haven't said whether you are coming to dinner next monday.)
You are just too sweet! Thanks for the mention and the Blog Award!
Skoots1mom and I are very close friends and I just love her so very much! and you're right she seems to be all over the place spreading encouraging words and her wonderfully wise perspective in blogland.
This blogging adventure has been so much fun over these past 18 months, seems like a lot longer, but I stared blogging in February of 2008, my how time flies when you're having a blast!!!!
A day with out blogging is like....well I just can't imagine what that would be like.
Thank You Again!!!

Robin
Heidi, Thanks so much. This is my first blog award. It has been very fun to know that someone is benefiting from the deals I'm finding. I will need your help to hang the nifty picture on the side though. I haven't killed the tomato plant yet. Now what do I do with these fresh herbs? : )
Thanks for the award Heidi! I take it you like orange?!
Heidi, thanks soooo much!!!! I am so thrilled to receive this award and even more thrilled that you enjoy my blog!!!
"A nut from the tree you grew on"
WAHAHAHA
(ok, that really cracked me up)
Thanks so much for the award. And to prove we really are from the same acorn, I wonder how long it will take me to figure out how to cut, paste, link, send etc the award to my blog. Never fear...Chatty Kelly and Edie help me when I get stuck!
Thank you very much for the award!!
Thank you for the kind words!
Melanie
