Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for more Friday Fave Five's.
I post late. That's because the responsibilities of home educating a senior in high school begin at the beginning of the day and end at the end of the day, which for us encompasses a wide time variance- and because I am not an early riser. Otherwise, I'd be whipping out these posts before any of yas were out of bed and you could eat yer breakfast by 'em. As it is, you pretty much have
to wash the dishes by 'em or switch on the night light to read 'em. Hope you don't mind.
5. Sometimes it feels like God is kiddin' around with me. I think he knows I like to laugh and crack a few jokes here and there. At 4 o'clock it was still raining cats and dogs like it had been all day. It was time for me to go pick up Fash from her volunteer job at the retirement villa. I saddled up my horses and pulled out of the garage into the pelting rain, as the radio blared the Newsboys:
"...all God’s children singing Glory, glory, hallelujah- He reigns, He reigns... It’s all God’s children singing Glory, glory, hallelujah He reigns, He reigns...."
And I'm laughing, because it's pouring down rain and I picture the words "....He rains, He rains....Glory, glory, hallelujah He rains, he rains...."
Good one, God. *wink*
4. On the ride home, Fash tells me that during jewelry making class at the retirement villa, Bea (names changed to protect the innocent) shared the story of the day. Bea says, "I was in the elevator and Zeke was in there and he asked me if I wanted to have his radio, because he wasn't using it and I said, yes, so he said, let's go back to my place." At this point, another retirement villa resident, Lila, interjects- "oh, you fell for that "let's go back to my place", that's an old line." And Bea continues, reminding everyone that Zeke recently upgraded his walker to a motorized scooter- "I was just walking down the hall to his room and I turned to see if he was behind me. He was. And he was coming up on me real fast. I went down and the scooter ran over my ankle, over my knee and I thought, if he runs over my head- I'm a goner..." Then the jewelry making club began their debate about whether or not Zeke would get his license taken away and have to go back to the cheesy walker. After that they all decided they'd trick or treat door to door- up and down the halls of the villa- wearing their bras on the outside of their shirts on Halloween night. And they told Fash to please advertise that the jewelry making club was, after all, open to men.
After telling me all this, Fash says to me, "Mom, you'd really like living there, I'm going to get your name on the waiting list."
You do that, Fashy. (I roll my eyes here)
3. The new Chris Tomlin cd "Hello Love"- it's wonderful! "Jesus Messiah", "Sing, Sing, Sing", "I Will Rise", "Love" with the Watoto Children's Choir. There are so many beautiful and worshipful songs on this cd. I highly recommend it. Been listening to it all week- cranked up!
2. Every once in a while, if I'm tuned in and have my epiphany eyes on, I catch the thing God is trying to teach me at a certain, particular time. Such has been the case this week. It's a Friday Fave Five, because I dig it when I get it that God is speaking to me about a thing. I'm not going to tell about the thing right now. I'm going to let it swish around in my brain a while and then I might post it.
1. I.T. has been gone on a business trip for two whole weeks and he IS BACK! Yeah! I love it that he is home. Home is where the heart is, as they say and Home is where they love you!! For me, happiness is having my husband home- safe and smilin'.

I just love visiting you! I so totally got He reigns before you explained it and was cracking up. Yes I believe God has inside jokes with us and laughs at(with) us like that. Sometimes I catch Him just shaking His head and rolling His eyes at me too. Hmmm. :)
#4. Bet you can't wait to get to the top of THAT waiting list. Hahaha!
It's just wrong to talk about an epiphany moment and then NOT share it. Just wrong I tell you! *smile*
Glad your hubby's home, enjoy your weekend!
I don't care when you post - I just love to read it! I loved the He rains moment. I was laughing before you explained it. I think God has a great sense of humor! I love the story from Fash too. We always say at our place that we should write a book!
I want to hear about the epiphany! And, welcome home IT!
Always enjoy my stop in here. Thanks for never ceasing to delight me!
Glad he's back! I love Chris Tomlin...
Oh I bet there are a lot of great stories like this one from the retirement home!!
Have a great weekend...
Rain? What's rain? Is that the stuff comes down from the occasional clouds we have, like taking a shower once every 6 months? (we've had one rainy day in 6 months, it's so dry here)
Sounds liek a really good week, Lid!
Oh, and yes, I am teaching IEW this year. And just started a tutoring job using IEW too :) (which does NOT necessarily mean I'm a great writer).
That Fash...she has a great sense of humor! So glad that I.T. made it home. And I'm glad to be catching up a bit!!
I am cracking right up at number 4. The whole thing was hilarious but that last comment from Fash. I almost fell off my chair laughing.
Great list!
oh my word, I am laughing out loud at Fash's story from the retirement center!!
It's been raining here non stop but as i look up at this moment there is sun coming through the window!!! woot!
I'm thinking I might have to have a give-a-way soon. ;)
You just write whenever you can! Today's post had me smiling, then laughing out loud. My daughter worked for the Senior Center for four years and often had funny things to share that they said or did (their antics in chair exercise class were especially hilarious). right in with that crowd :-)
Is Fash suggesting that it should be soon???? Cause you're WAY younger than me and I am NOT ready! :D
And boy can I relate to #1. 35 days and counting down!!! till TT will be home! Can't wait.
i have a similar relationship, with faith. ; ) i teach a 8th and 9th grader at home, i understand : ) you write whenever you have the time. we understand.
xo
Glad your hubby's home, enjoy your weekend! Work From Home
Your post reminded me of something. The other night I was driving home and the sky was the most amazing color I have ever seen. It just didn't look real. As I looked up there was a cloud that was in the shape of a hand coming down and I said out loud; I got it God. I know you did this for me. (I really needed a hand up at that moment)
As always....when I visit you, I never leave without a smile on my face.
Peace and love~
