Linda, at 2nd Cup of Coffee hosts this blog meme (rhymes with dream). If you click on her blog title, you'll be transported to her page where many other bloggers have linked up for this getting to know you party.1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient?
Pleasant when I'm ill? Who is pleasant when she's ill? I smell when I am ill, I'm pretty sure it isn't pleasant. I'm fussy when I'm ill or not ill. Grumpy- I try to leave him out of it.
2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction?
Even though we are home schooled over here, if we suspect the public and private schoolers are having a snow day, because we see the neighbors building snowmen during lunchtime (because we might be too busy multiplying polynomials before that time or sleeping in) THEN we declare "SNOW DAY"!! IF we haven't taken too much time off sleeping in on the other visibly not snow days.
3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve?
Being a wife.
4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day?
If you call putting an empty, heart shaped, cardboard box (where six chocolates lived ten years ago) up on a shelf, on it's edge, facing the room- decorating for Valentine's Day, then yes, yes I do.
5. What song is on your mind today?
"Who are you...oo...oo oo..oo" (in honor of the grandpa Who's we saw on Sunday night, and this meme)
6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic?
I prefer movies based on true stories- mostly. Contemporary or classic. You know, like The Birds. I'm kidding! I really like movies based on true stories, especially if they have a good moral to the story....know what I mean? Julie and Julia- based on true story, moral is: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. And whatever you do- blog it.
7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room.
My "feelings" do not have compartments. They all bang around together in my pinball head, creating sparks of confusion and dread. What can I say, Dr. Seuss just showed up. Let's break this question down. Trying moments: I create one after the other. Tiffs with my spouse: see answer to question #3. Wallpapering a room: not on your life, baby.
8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.)
He was what we used to call "a total hunk". For those of you born after 1975- this meant he was "a hottie". Anyway, that was probably the first thing. Later I found out he was a really smart guy, who could do math problems like there was no tomorrow. Strangely, I did find that attractive. Finally though, I found him to be a guy who loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and yearned to follow in the Truth of His word.
9. When was the last time your heart raced?
A few years back I saw a Dr. for this very thing. It seems I had been eating too much chocolate while drinking too much coffee- every day.
10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school?
I shared this in a comment earlier this week. In grade school we decorated shoeboxes, so classmates could put valentines inside through a slit in the top. At the party, on the Friday closest to Valentine's Day, we opened the box and read all the Valentines. I distinctly remember not receiving a valentine from a certain cute boy in my third grade class and feeling depressed. Other than that, my memories are good. Like the Valentine's Day party I hosted at our house, for our young kids, when we invited a bunch of home educating families that lived in or near our neighborhood. We had games and everything. It was a blast!
11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer?
Dove chocolates. And a big box of Good N Plenty.
12. Red or pink?
In high school, I wore a lot of pink. I must have liked pink. Now- I don't care for pink. Maybe it's because my daughter dislikes it so much. If we're talking roses- not red. Red is the roses at funerals (my mother always said that) and red is blood and guts. So some red is bad. But the fabric on the seats of my swivel barstool chairs in the kitchen are red. I like those.
Participating in Random Dozen this week actually enters me into a contest to win an apron with hearts on it. I think this could help me with my answer to #3, so I entered....
Thanks Linda!

I am pleasant when I am ill. Just so you know.
But I dont' decorate for Valentine's so you one-uped me there.
Have a great day!
So, funny! Blessings~
Case in point: today is a snow day for the public and private schoolers, but the home educated student who lives here is studying.
Just the way the ball bounced. Sorry, Fash.
I'd glad you left Grumpy out of it. Interesting takes. I loved "Be a wife"! It's my first R12...
Fun answers today....wow on #3...maybe I should have said that one but I picked ironing instead. And my husband does that so I for sure should have said what you said : )
I decorate like you for Valentines Day.
It's blizzardy here but my kids are away in college so it's not really a true snow day here. Have a great day!
Great answers - #1 & #@ amused me but #7 had me literally laughing out loud!
Grandpa is right on #5! Boy that was hard to watch! You are so good with words! I love your list!
..."Grumpy- I try to leave him out of it."..loLLLLL!
I have some great pics of those grandpas singing...

Really enjoyed your answers! You had me chuckling several times. Thanks for sharing.
until next time... nel
Hi! Loved your answers and I can relate to the snow days as we homeschooled, too. We almost always observed the same snow days as public school for some unknown reason. :-)
You are so funny and I found myself smiling and laughing at most of your answers! :-)
So thanks, I needed that! LOL
Our Valentine decorating is so.... similar or pathetic-however you choose to look at it! : )
Sitka has an award for you at All Gods Creatures.
Blessings, andrea
First of all...I had to come over here and see just WHO thought I was Mark Schulz's Mom! Tooo funny! Then, I thought just how glad I was that I came over. This is a very entertaining post. Hope to be back this way soon! Thanks for visiting me.
Susan
And, one more thing...did you see the editorial??? It's very interesting.
Thanks for the laughs, Heidi!
My daddy taught me how to hang wall paper several years ago, and I actually like doing it. Give me a call if you ever need some help. *grin*
Sister you crack me up. Seriously.
#s 4 & 5 made me laugh out loud! Oh how I have missed you, friend. I'm slowing coming back around to Bloggyland.
I enjoyed your answers. I always wondered how homeschoolers handled snow days.
Loved your answers too, and I think I'm like you on #7, I couldn't do it either!
I'm glad you could get the computer fixed, I missed you!
We are twins separated at birth. LOL If I'd participated in RD this week, my answers would have sounded eerily similar :-)
But I was on a mad, kitchen-cupboard-cleaning expedition while awaiting word of my daughter's arrival back in the U.S. Looooong day but she did make it home just fine.
Now I am singing WHO ARE YOU? WHO WHO
thankyouverymuch.
btw, I wanted to reply to your comment on my post today...but no email! So c/p my reply to you here:
"Oh Heidi (2 Thinks)
I didn't know that about you...see, you learn something new everyday. So happy you are proud of me....I am proud of me too. In all seriousness...I get frustrated and know I am robbed of being enlightened so much more in this life with my struggle with reading/attention....so these little hurdles mean so much to me!"
I love the way your hysterically funny and your serious sides come together.
Loved #3 and #8.
#9 - Chocolate and coffee can do that to you? :o
When I am ill I just want to be left alone. No decorations here.
Hi Heidi-
I'm Judd Corizan from the meme Sunday Stealing. (http://sundaystealing.blogspot.com) I thought I'd take the time to invite you and all Random Dozen players to join us this and every Sunday. We have a group of great players who participate. We usually post by 3PM Eastern time on Saturdays.
Thanks!
Judd
I'm not a huge fan of chocolate but DOVE is my favorite.
"Be a wife" WAHAHA
"Win an apron, be a better wife" WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
See, we are on the same wave length, when it comes to homeschooling! Yay! : ) I SO love that!
You have me beaming from ear to ear. xo
Found these most interesting. Learned a lot about you :) And just for the record, I WAS born after 1975, and YES I knew what a hunk is. You know my father...of course I'm a throw-back ;) just kidding!
