It happened. Our tomatoes did, in fact, turn red. I know everyone else across the blogglobe has already posted pictures of their garden bounty. Michigan weather made us wait.
Waiting is hard. But I know I am called to wait:
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:14
In other words, trust in God's timing. It is more perfect than ours. He sees things differently than I do. If I trusted only in my own thoughts and the logic I dream up, well, I'd have made fried green tomatoes every night for weeks now. I honestly didn't know for sure if they would ever ripen. But I decided not to pick 'em, decided maybe I should be patient. More are turning red everyday and they are delicious, nutritious and a good reminder.
Wait.

Ooooh good! They look delicious! I'm jealous, but I really do not have enough space on my patio to grow tomatoes, but I KNOW they probably taste so much better than the supermarket variety!
"Things come to those who wait." Yum!! So glad they finally got there.
Excellent life lesson!
Another thought that comes to mind with those you've penned is that the Lord never grows Hothouse tomatoes (forced to grow, abused to become red ahead of actually ripening). His are always vine-ripened. The best kind!
Be blessed,
Kathleen
I got such a late start on my garden this year. Almost a month into the growing season before I could get anything into the ground, but with the DD surgery it could not be helped.
My tomatoes are still now where near ripe. I finally broke down the other day and went to a small road side veggie stand to by some home grown tomatoes for a "mater" sandwich. My cherry tomatoes are coming in gang busters and I am getting enough of of them to have with a salad almost every day. I do have one or two big tomatoes that are about ready to start to ripen.
You're right though I learn so many lessons about life and who our creator is and His nature when you observe how the things e created work.
It is just amazing!!!!
Yours look beautiful!

The picture is not coming up for me but I can just imagine! Yummy! Homegrown tomatoes are the best. We cut one yesterday that wasn't even totally red and it still had better flavor than the store bought ones.
Heidi,
OK officially jealous and envious in a good way. Nothing beats the taste of tomatoes right off the vine. They simply taste amazing. This year we just were able to produce cherry sized one because for whatever reason our larger tomato plant just died.
We will definitely try again next year however. Thanks for pictures of yours! Enjoy!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Whooo Hooo, now you need to make a tomato pie. I will be right over. :)
Yum, they look so good! I love a tomato sandwich with fresh from the garden tomatoes!
Those tomatoes look gorgeous! Don't feel bad -- our watermelons still aren't ready, in late August, and we are in Florida!
Look fabulous....I will keep waiting and watering over here : ) Just added Link Within...now wondering how you did the signature line. Bets
